Munk – You Never See Me Back Down (Cut Copy Jackmaster mix)

4 10 2009

You know that feeling when a song makes your day…maybe even your week or month? It’s wonderful, isn’t it? Well, my friends, this track did exactly that for me today. Cut Copy is back on the remix circuit, this time doing their take on Munk’s “You Never See Me Back Down.”

Close your eyes, put on your best pair of cans, and press play — you’ll be transported back to the early days of new wave, and maybe you’ll even think you’re at the Hacienda. This particular mix channels a lot of prime New Order and a bit of the Happy Mondays. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to just want to drop everything and get moving.

WARNING: Please be careful of where you are when you play this for the first time. Make sure you’re in a comfortable environment with people you can trust — the kind of good friends who won’t pass judgment. This track is so infectious that you may end up just dancing on the spot, waving your arms in the air and acting a fool like it’s the rapture. And, if you’re like me and decide to give it a first spin while on the treadmill, make sure the gym is empty, because that piece of exercise equipment will become your dancefloor.

Kid Sister – Right Hand Hi (Micro Genius remix)

4 10 2009

Starting this shiz out right with a track by one of Chicago’s finest, Kid Sister. Right Hand Hi seems to be a little more upbeat poppy/clubby than her other stuff….but hey, if this is the direction she wants to go in, I’m not complaining.

The Micro Genius remix is something else. Kicks things into gear just a little more, but mostly prolongs the synth that makes this tune so freaking great.

Can’t wait to hear a few more badass mixes of this….and hoping there’s an accompanying music video soon!
